2nd trimester spottingFrom: Joanna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 23 Oct 2001 16:49:18 -0500 (CDT)
I am currently 14 weeks preganant. This is my 4th preganancy - three previous miscarriages (8wks, 9 wks, 11 wks). In all three, d&c's were performed. My last miscarraige was caused by Turner's syndrome. The two before were undiagnosed. I have several medical complications - small uterine fibroid tumors; moderate endometriosis; low thyroid. I experinced bleeding throughout my first trimester. Because of low progesterone levels, I took 100 mg IM injections now 50 mg. At first, my OB had me on suppositories but switched me to injections after bleeding occurred. I had several incidents of bleeding in my first trimester. I had a brown (old blood) discharge for a few days. On a couple of occasions, I had bright red blood loss that happened very quickly and usually went away within a few hours. I was examined by my OB and he said my cervix was closed and the baby's heartbeat was strong (via US). Now I am experiencing some light spotting (bright red and minimal). I have a UTI and am on macrobid. I also was on Monistat for a yeast infection. I am hoping that the bleeding could be from the Monistat or from the tube used to insert it. However, I am having other symptoms at the same time. For example, I have increased nausea, indegestion and urinary frequency. I also feel an occasional pressure on my pelvic floor usually releived by urinating. In addition my vagina is "cold" for lack of a better term. It feels like there is an ice cube stuck in there. The baby's heart rate has been steady (at 156 bpm - I have a doppler at home). I usually find the heartbeat about even with my hip bones and two inches to the right of the centerline of abdomen.
-- I am worried that there are more complications with this pregnancy but my doctor feels like I'm overreacting. Are my symptoms consistent with any know complications? Does anyone have any experience with the symptoms I explained? I have a doctor appt on Monday - any suggestions on what I should ask him about? Does anyone else feel like I am averreacting? Having had three d&c s, what are my increased risks for incompetent cervix. I am really worried my previous d&c s will lead to complications especially now that I've made it this far. Thanks for your help, Joanna
