It does sound like you might have bacterial vaginosis. I'm sure that the examination your gynecologist will perform will determine the cause of this odor.

When you have a fluctuation in your hormone production you can have excess of abnormal growth of the vaginal flora. Also there is a possibility, with inflammatory bowel disease, to have a fistula from the intestine and colon into the vagina or uterus, and this can give a fecal smell.
