Blood in the stool of baby while breastfeeding...From: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 18 Oct 2001 21:10:55 -0500 (CDT)
I am curious what else might cause occasional mucous/very slight blood in my 3 month olds bowel movement. I was told to cut out dairy, which I have done, and it seemed to work perfectly for 2 months now. In the last two days, it has started again, although very mild. I wouldn't have even seen the blood, if I didn't hold the diaper up to the light. But it was a bit mucousy, so I thought I should check it. I went over everything I have eaten in the last few days, and can't think of any slip ups, where I may have had some dairy. She doesn't have a fever, and is very active and smiley. She does sleep quite a bit, but I feel it's completely unrelated, since she wakes up smiling and ready to play. (But she is on a sleep schedule where she is awake for 1-3 hours, and sleeps for 1-3 hours. This may be normal, I'm not sure. She sleeps very well at night) Are there other foods, besides dairy, that I should avoid, possibly? Could this just be something that doesn't need attention unless it gets worse, or should I take her to her doctor? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
