[Birth Control] Andronic Effect of ProgestinFrom: Alexa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 14 Oct 2001 12:58:36 -0500 (CDT)
I am only on bcp for acne. If Ortho Tri-cylene is suppossed to contain a progestin that lessens that andronic effect...could it still be possible that I am having an andronic effect of the progestin? I find that within a the 'break' week my skin completely clears up and then once I start the pill pack again, each week gets progressively worse with acne...is this due to the three increasing levels of progestin that occurs each week? Should I try going off the pill for one week to see if I clear up without the progestin...or would a week not be long enough for my natural hormone levels to return? Also, it was stated that Yasmin contains a progestin that is antiandronic....is this different than Ortho-Tri-Cyclene's progestin? How does Yasmin's progestin work? I have only been on Ortho-Tri-cyclene for one and 1/2 months and I know one is suppossed to leave 2-3 months for the body to get adjusted, but if the pill is increasing acne now, won't it just continue to do so? or will this effect subside? Sorry it's so long...I thank you in advance:)
