At your age, the most likely problem is indeed hormonal, although I
doubt I'd blame it on a "mis-firing" pituitary. It can also be an early
pregnancy gone bad, fibroids, bleeding disorders and other
possibilities. An exam and talk with a gyn is an excellent idea.
