Hi Nurse Claudia and everyone,

I couldn't agree more with this statement. The information that you all have given to me even though it is just for educational purposes has been a big help to me when I've had a situation come up where I wasn't sure if I needed to call my dr about it. Sometimes you all have told me that it can wait and other times there have been instances where I was told that I needed to get in touch with my dr about whatever was going on. The information that I have been given here has also helped me know what things I need to discuss with my dr.

I would like to relate a few experiences that happened to me one of them about 2 months ago that made me appreciate you all so much.

Back in August I had a bleeding episode that concerned me very much. I wasn't sure what to do as I had already called the dr's office that week to ask about something with my cervix. The bleeding was so horrible and the cramping in addition to it made me cry. So that day (it was on that Thurs b/c Dr. Braun was helping us that day) I posted a message at about 3 in the afternoon explaining what I was dealing with. I left to go out for a while and when I came home I saw a message there waiting for me. And when I saw that message I just about started to cry again b/c what I saw amazed me. Dr. Braun (yep-our very own Dr. Braun-a male gyn) was very worried about this bleeding and told me to call my dr right away. He wanted me to call b/c he was so concerned that it would get worse (which it did but then started to lose some of its intensity after I called my dr). At that moment I felt like as if he were treating me as if I were one of his patients even though this list is just for eduational purposes only.

Dr. Braun also came to my aid earlier this year (back in March) when I was getting ready to have a vaginal biopsy. I was very, very scared about this procedure b/c I didn't know what I was going to expect. I had asked my dr for information on the procedure but she had nothing there for me that they could send. So I came here to the list and told my story about what was going to happen. Dr. Braun walked me thru the procedure, and Dr. Montgomery gave me a suggestion on how to relax during the procedure which worked great. The process of the biopsy went so quickly.

It was Dr. Marchbein who helped me start understanding more about vulvodynia by giving me several links to look at when I was diagnosed with it and vulvar vestibulitis in 1999.

Dr. Shanahan was a big help to me when I had some major concerns about nausea back in April that wasn't flu related and she calmed my fears and told me what to do if it got worse (same thing with Dr. von Almen).

I could relate many other experiences about how I was helped several times but it would take forever. But those are just a few examples of how I have been helped.

It is so wonderful to be able to come here to get help from all the drs and Nurses Claudia and Patti when I have a question at a time of the day that I can't call my dr to ask or it's on the weekends.

So what is my point? I've been helped by both male and female drs in the last 2 years. I have learned so much from all of you that volunteer here and it has helped me to learn so much, and have that info be able to help me learn how to better communicate with my own dr.

I look forward to learning many, many more things on this list.
