New England Journal of Medicine: UTI and E.COLI

I have heard, and am extremely concerned, of the UTIs that are resistant to antibiotics, plaguing the Minnesota, California and Michigan areas. I am not a doctor and don't subscribe to the New England Journal of Medicine, and the media is only giving snipets of information regarding these UTIs.

>From what I have heard, a strain of E. Coli is causing these UTIs, and
there isn't an antibiotic to kill the infection. Could you please tell me if the researchers have narrowed down the source of the E. Coli? Is it meat or dairy related?

Thank you for your help.
