2nd post- Drs only... Second cone negative.. now what?!?! Reply: William McIntosh, MD: "Re: 2nd post- Drs only... Second cone negative.. now what?!?!" I have posted here before. Had cone- 11/00. CIS with uninvolved margins. 1st pap 3mos postop= normal. Second pap 6mos postop= severe dysplasia, CIN II; ECC normal. Coploscopy performed... several biopsies taken, all normal. Vaginal area evaluated with acetic acid as well.. nothing abnormal seen. Pap reread at teaching hospital, agreed with dx of CIN II, severe. Second cone recommended since colposcopy could not explain it... I was leary, however, since margins were clear after first cone. I have not yet had kids and want them (am 33 y/o) so was very concerned and discussed this with my gynonc. Second cone was performed by the gyn/onc last week. Well, got results today. Cone sample is NEGATIVE!! I have to wait 3wks to see gynonc and I am going nuts! I mean, I had healthy cervical tissue removed with no results to explain the pap! Questions: What NOW???? I am going to refuse to have any more surgery. What do you Drs. think of this whole situation, and what would you do next??
