GBS - vaginal discharge (non-pregnancy)From: Sandra (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 28 Sep 2001 19:00:37 -0500 (CDT)
I have been having a yellowish discharge with some blood, for about 7 months now. I am not pregnant, and my Doctor diagnosed me with GBS. I have taken antibotics(ampicillan, amoxicillan, augmentin, etc) for it, but it consistently comes back. I also have had my urine cultured each time, showing GBS in the urine as well. When the symptoms in the vagina return (almost immediately after taking the antibiotics) is returns in the urine too. Mostly it makes me have the urge to urinate very frequently. No pain though. My doctor has told me to pretty much live with it, but I am very uncomfortable with the constant discharge and sensation of having to urinate so often. I was wondering how it could be ok to live with an infection inside of me? I have seen her so many times and I am still at the same point I was 7 months ago, with the symptoms. What do you suggest I do, and does this pose a health threat if left untreated with the symptoms. Also, my husband and I are thinking of having a baby soon, can we concieve a healthy child with the bacteria present in my vagina now. I understand the complications when in labor, but I am worried about the conception. Thank you!
