[Birth Control] Prolapsed uterus in a 28-year old?From: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 26 Sep 2001 22:54:09 -0500 (CDT)
Having never given birth and being only 28, is it possible to have a prolapsed uterus? Could my problems be caused by cervical dysplasia? I have been experiencing pain and occasional bleeding during sex for several years, and 3 years ago told my doctor that the position of my cervix seemed to have 'dropped'. He said everything was physically fine, and the PAP test from that visit revealed severe cervial dysplasia (class III) which required laser surgery to remove. Since then I have been putting up with the pain, thinking it was related to dysplasia. (Regular PAPs have been fine- class I and II) But in the last few months it is worse, and now wearing a tampon is uncomfortable and sometimes just when I'm sitting I experience a dull heavy pain. I can actually feel my cervix less than 2 inches from the vaginal opening- definately not where it used to be! I visited to a new doctor (I moved to a different country) who checked me with an ultrasound and said I looked totally normal. The PAP test was fine too (class II). The doctor had no explanation for the pain, he just told me to tell my husband to be more gentle. Should I 'shop around' until I find a doctor who takes my complaints more seriously, or would that make me a hypocondriac? Sorry for the long post, but it's frustrating not having a regular, trusted doctor. Thanks.
