Bleeding following laparoscopy

I recently underwent a laparoscopy to remove two tennis-ball sized ovarian cysts in addition to a huge peritoneal psuedocyst that was attached to the back wall of my uterus. I have undergone seven previous laps for endometriosis, adhesionas and pelvic pain, but have never experienced what is going on right now.

My doctor kept me in the hospital overnight due to the extent of the surgery and because he was concerned about bleeding. I did not bleed at all while in the hospital, but began to bleed the night I came home. Two days later, I am still experienceng moderate bleeding and pain. My doctor said that as long as I'm not seriously bleeding, that everything is o.k. Obviously, I am still worried.

I am not supposed to start my period for another 7-8 days. Could the surgery have brought on my period? If this is something to be concerned about, what should prompt me to contact my doctor again? I go for a follow-up visit in three days.

Thank you for you advice!!
