I'm sorry you had such a bad experience (and hope you are doing better today) but I think you may have jumped to a hasty conclusion that won't serve you well seeking health care in the future. By using gender as a primary selector, you greatly limit your choice of caregivers in a time when our options are already limited enough by managed care companies. I've worked in hospitals for more years than I care to count and can tell you that there are wonderful, horrible, and mediocre doctors of both genders. Given the incredible volume of questions asked here, as long as a word answers the question, the right word will do.

If you really found your doctor's associates answer inappropriate, maybe you should approach your doctor with that observation, maybe she could clarify the situation for you (she may have done the exact same thing) or speak with her partner if she agrees with you and feels she should bring it up. Everyone has a bad day, maybe you just caught him on his.
