Foot and leg cramps - OCP induced?From: AMS (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 2 Sep 2001 19:59:55 -0500 (CDT)
I started taking continuous levlen this summer to control excessive, continuous bleeding (age 50, first time ever to use OCP). I also have apparently developed asthma in addition to seasonal/perennial allergies/vasomotor rhinitis and am taking a total of 1080 mcg fluticisone (this is high dose and I believe above the threshold for some systemic action)in nose and lungs. I've never had foot and leg cramps before except once or twice in each of three pregnancies. Now, since beginning all these meds, I have them almost daily. They are usually provoked by stretching or pointing my toes when rolling over in bed or any time my feet are extended. Its like the bottom of my foot forgot how to uncontract! Is this more likely a side effect of the of the levlen or the steroids? Or completetly unrelated? I'm following DASH diet so low calcium, other minerals should not be a problem. Thank you.
