Re: Athletes foot fugusFrom: J. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 31 Aug 2001 12:09:17 -0500 (CDT)
G. I picked up a fungus on one foot when my husband and I were travelling on a shoestring in Nicaragua (I should've worn shower shoes!). I used to be able to get it to go away by soaking my foot in apple cider vinegar, then rubbing a honey/garlic mixture on the area, and sleeping that night with a cotton sock on that foot. (as you can tell I like the natural approach) However, that would only get rid of the *symptoms*. The fungus was still there, and would come back after a month or so. Recently, I bought an over the counter cream that only needs to be applied once or twice a day for a week (two weeks on the sides of the feet). So it's much easier to use than the other creams that you have to use three/four times a day for 3/4 weeks. I used that several months ago, the fungus is gone and has not recurred. Also, once you start treating your foot, you should probably also disinfect the shower and dust your shoes w/anti-fungal powder maybe. The cream was Lamisil AT cream. Good luck, J.
