Too Much Cervix Was Removed ?From: Wendy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 31 Aug 2001 10:31:08 -0500 (CDT)
I am currently 35 years old. I had a laser cone surgery in March '00. Through a variety of events, we recently found out that my cervical os is completely blocked and obscured by granular scar tissue. My RE has tried twice to push through the scar tissue with no success. During an ultrasound yesterday, she became concerned that I have no cervical tissue left at all, and therefore is considering a hysterectomy rather than trying to open my cervical os. She has ordered an MRI to try to assess how much cervical tissue is left, but I'm confused! She said there is problem if the uterus sits on top of the vagina without a cervix in between, but how can that have happened, and what does this really mean? My OB/Gyn did take out a large cone biopsy (2cmx2cmx1.9cm), but how could he possibly have removed my entire cervix? I would appreciate any help you can provide! God Bless - Wendy
