Group B StrepFrom: Tanya (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 31 Aug 2001 09:05:56 -0500 (CDT)
Can Flagyl, which is commonly used to treat BV also be used for Group B Strep? (I understand that Strep B is usually treated at the time of delivery, and I think that is my doctor's theory on it too. But, a friend of mine was treated for Strep B at 35 weeks with Amoxicillin and said her strep went away. I'm just curious if Flagyl can have the same effect on Strep B.) If my doctor looks a samples from my vagina under a microscope to determine if I have BV, would he also be able to tell if I have Strep B?
