Clomid-No Ovulation

I used Clomid for the first time this cycle (50 mg days 5-9). My OBGYN did a vaginal ultrasound on day 23 and saw some follicles on my ovaries. He did a bloodtest to measure progesterone levels. I got the results yesterday, they said the levels were of very early ovulation. In view of the date taken, most likely it meant that I did not ovulate, according to the nurse practitioner. They want me now to wait for a period, get another ultrasound to check for hyperstimulation of the ovaries, and then up the dosis to 100 mg Clomid for 5 days in the next cycle.

My questions are:

1. does this sound like normal policy? 2. What are the chances to ovulate past the normal range (I saw in the archives different opinions from different dr.'s but on average it seems anywhere from day 14 through 20) 3. I did not get my period for the last six months without use of prometrium, will it happen now spontaneously even though I did not ovulate? 4. My BBT's were eratic once again this month (they were this way too before I was on Clomid and did not ovulate). I think I am doing everything right, should there not be some kind of patern, even if I do not ovulate. It seems they are all over the place.

Thanks for your help.
