Re: [Birth Control] Water Retention/Moodiness with Yasmin--From: Cynthia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Aug 2001 09:07:10 -0500 (CDT)
Jenny - My daughter was taking Yasmin to help with symptoms of polycystic ovary disease and she had the same problems you are having. She gained 20 lbs. in one month. (She went from 140 to 160 lbs.) She had terrible depression and had a ton of water retention. She couldn't even make a fist, it was so bad. She was absolutely miserable, emotionally and physically. I took her to the doctor yesterday and he told her that there was no way that Yasmin could have had that effect. (Basically he called her a liar.) He said that Yasmin will cause you to lose water and he said within 2 months on it you should lose one-quarter of a pound. He sounded like he was reading the Yasmin pamplet. My daughter does not make stuff up. I told her afterwards to get herself to a good endocrinologist who realizes everyone's body is unique and what happens to one person does not necessarily have to be another person's experience. The whole situation made me furious. Needless to say, she will not be going back to him. I hope you are able to find a birth control pill that works for you. Cynthia
