Re: Should rectal exam be part of annual ck up?From: AJ (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 28 Aug 2001 10:03:12 -0500 (CDT)
D, I'm so sorry to hear about your doctor treating you this way. Of course, she may be right about some of her diagnosis, but she should never had made you feel uncomfortable and should have taken your feelings into account. Unfortunately D the only way to diagnose endometriosis is through laprascopy. I was diagnosed with endo a little over a year ago. None of the tests that you have mentioned aided in the diagnosis. I also had a MRI and CT scan of my pelvic and abdominal area. Some tests may lead to suspensions of endo, but none can diagnose it. You might want to find another dr and get a second opinion. I had drs put me off for 10 years before I finally got the diagnosis of endo, please do not let your doctor do the same. It is normal however for doctors to run other tests before doing a laprascopy because the fact that it is surgery. I hope that you find out what is causing your problems. If all the tests come back normal, and your doctor still will not give you a laprascope, I would definately seek a second opinion. I hope I have helped in some way :) Take Care and God Bless, AJ
