Re: CIN 2 - hysterectomy?From: AJ (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 27 Aug 2001 01:19:25 -0500 (CDT)
Liz, Hello. Two years ago, at age 20, I was diagnosed with CIN3 (carcinoma in situ). I had a LEEP (loop electrosurgical excision procedure) that removed all of the areas of dysplasia. I also was diagnosed with HPV. I can't remember the numbers, but there are certain types by number that are connected with cervical cancer, and I had them all. After the LEEP,a pap soon after leep, and then I had a pap every three months for a year, then every 6 months. All of them have come back normal so far (Thank God) and I am back to only getting paps every year. When I was first diagnosed, they wanted to freeze the tissue (I cant remember what they called it), I went and got a second opinion and that doctor told me that they way the first dr wanted to do it, I would have to have it done every two months (he basically told me that it was a waste of time.) If you are concerned about it still, do some research, it is always better to go into any medical situation informed instead of relying soley on your doctor for info. Hope everything turns ok great for you. :) Take Care and God Bless, AJ
