Re: HPV?-Reply to Dr. Marchbein...!From: Melanie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 26 Aug 2001 17:28:40 -0500 (CDT)
Thanks VERY much for your response. The colposcopy/biopsy was supposedly done to confirm the HPV diagnosed (or misdiagnosed) at the first Pap screening (an HPV DNA panel was done at that time....low-risk was supposedly the outcome....) QUESTIONS: 1) Does the biopsy diagnosis of <<Parakeratotic squamous mucosa with parabasal cell hyperplasia>> confirm HPV? My gut sense is it does NOT....And that's why you're suggesting the HPV cervical sample....(AND, if this test you're suggesting is different from the HPV DNA panel that's already been done, it stands to reason it should have been done on the tissue samples from the biopsy, if the Dr. ORDERED the biopsy to confirm HPV!!! I shouldn't have to go back for it, if you know what I mean!) 2) PLEASE translate <<Parakeratotic squamous mucosa with parabasal cell hyperplasia>> into simple layman's language. I need to know what it means. (PS...I live on Long Island as well. My breast surgeon is in Lake Success, Karen Kostroff....) Again, thank you very much for your response....
