Ovarian PainFrom: Susan (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 26 Aug 2001 17:28:25 -0500 (CDT)
I'm experiencing severe, sharp pain at the onset of my period each month, lasting for about 1 1/2 days. My period lasts about 5 days on average. I bleed heavily during the first two days, then it lightens up gradually. I had a tubal ligation two years ago. I'm 41, and I have had 2 children, both breastfed. I'm not taking any hormones or any other kinds of medication, only multivitamins and bone health supplements. The pains alternate each month, from side to side. This month, the pain was so severe that it has been debilitating. The pain comes, lasts for a few seconds, up to a minute or so sometimes, then it subsides. There is the usual constant menstrual cramping associated with it. I'm feeling nauseous, as well. Ibuprofen doesn't seem to help at all. Would appreciate any advice since I've got to do something about this.
