Re: koilocytosisFrom: AJ (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 23 Aug 2001 19:28:31 -0500 (CDT)
M, HPV used to be called koilocytosis. If your doctor told you that you have koilocytosis, then you have HPV. A simple pap smear can tell if you have HPV and it is not curable. HPV is a sexually contracted virus. There are different types of HPV some cause Warts and there are other types that cause or are related to cervical cancer. Dysplasia is the term that is used to define pre-cancerous changes in the cervix. Forget the word cancerous, they make it sound scary, but really it's not too bad. If you need any more info on this feel free to email me. I have been through all of this before. Take Care and God Bless, AJ
