9cmx6.9cm.6.6cm CystFrom: Jill (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 23 Aug 2001 16:18:39 -0500 (CDT)
Hi There, I posted a couple of months ago because I was diagnosed with a right 7.5 cm hemorraghic ovarian cyst. Well, I went on the pill last month, and went in for my ultrasound yesterday. Seems that the cyst has grown by 1.5cm. I spoke with my doctor today who feels that surgery is the best option. The cyst is tucked away behind my uterus, and it filled with fluid or debris. She said that she would like to drain the cyst via laproscopy and let the ovary heal. I am 24 years old, no kids, just married!!!, and very nervous about this procedure. What are the chances that this will be successful via the lap.? I am worried that I have a high chance of it turning in to the more invasive surgery requiring a longer recovery time. She said something about the surgery turing into laprotomy if for example the cyst attached itself to an intestinal wall? I haven't read anything about this, is this possible? Would I have symptoms of this? What is the recovery time of a cyst this big after surgery is performed?? Thank you so very much, sorry for the long e-mail. Jill
