Re: cervical biopsyFrom: AJ (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 22 Aug 2001 22:25:37 -0500 (CDT)
Joy, Biopsies are usually pretty accurate. I believe that you mean LEEP is the next thing you are scheduled for. I had severe dysplasia 2 years ago. I had a Colposcopy to take biopsies (this is prolly what you had done. The dr just uses a magnifying scope to see the tissue better). I was diagnosed with CIN3. I had the LEEP done a few months later (was pregnant but had a miscarriage, the reason it took months to go back). LEEP stands for Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure. The purpose of this is to excise the abnormal tissue. The procedure is a little painful mostly feels like cramping, and you will definately need someone to drive you home after it. As far as the diagnosis being worse, I don't think that will happen. As I said, usually the main purpose of this procedure is to get the abnormal tissue out. After this procedure you will have to go back for a follow-up and then have papsmears performed usually every three months for a year. If you have any more questions, feel free to email me personally. Take Care and God Bless, AJ At Wed, 22 Aug 2001, Joy wrote: > >I had a cervical biopsy with results of severe dysplasia.
