verapamil as a tocolytic? For more information on symptoms and treatment of endometriosis visit www.EndometriosisZONE.org. From: Erin (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 16 Aug 2001 00:16:29 -0500 (CDT)
Hi. I am 24 weeks and am on strict bedrest with bathroom priveledges only, due to preterm labor contractions. I am currently taking nifedipine 10mg Q 4-6 hrs. The nifedipine causes tachycardia from 110-135 and is veryncomfortable for me. My doc suggested verapamil and states that it is widely used in France and Germany as a tocolytic. She has used it with one patient, who could not toleraye the nifedipine, with good results. I cannot find any info on this and UCSF says they have not sen this used. Have you? Any comments? Also, have you ever seen other patients with tachycardia as a side effect of the nifedipine? Thank you for your time. erin
