?Excess progesteroneFrom: Rebecca (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 11 Aug 2001 09:04:33 +1000
Due to the type of contraceptive options that I have chosen (Depo Provera and Implanon) I have not had a period in 3 years. I now have vaginal atrophy (I am told), a very dry vagina and I get occassional hot flushes. I have had a Hormone assay performed by my doctor and this indicated an Oestrogen level equal to that of a menopausal woman - I am only 24. Could this be due to the fact that these two types of Contraception are Progesterone only? Will I need to go on the pill? What about Oestrogen replacement or will this reduce the efficacy of the Implanon which I had inserted 4 weeks ago?
