Kelly Shanahan, MD, : "Re: Effects of fibroids" I was diagnosed with Uterine fibroids when I was 21 years old (6 years ago), and subsequently underwent GnRH agonist treatment for shrinkage, and a myomectomy for the removal of my extremely large fibroid. At the time, I had severe swelling in my legs, which I am now told could be due to damage to my lymph tissue by the fibroid(s). I still get this severe swelling, and wonder if there is anything that can be done about it, as it causes me huge anxiety personally, and pushes me into depression and self-doubt.
