Question regarding possible nerve entrapment

First of all, thanks for this forum and related resources -- it has helped me locate a new doctor who may be of help in solving my chronic pelvic pain problem.

He referred me to another specialist who thinks I may have an entrapped ilioinguinal nerve. When he pressed on the appropriate area he was able to replicate my symptoms. He also noted that an old laparotomy scar indicated violation of the inguinal canal and that scar tissue could have shifted during a subsequent traumatic childbirth from which my pain problems date.

However, when I did a search on ilioinguinal nerve entrapment I found no mention of the areas where my most severe pain is located, notably the pelvic floor and levator ani.

Could this be referred pain? Or is it possible to have more than one nerve entrapped at the same time?

I have to travel a fairly great distance to see these doctors and while I am more than willing to do so to achieve resolution, I don't want to waste their time or mine if it is not warranted.

Many thanks for any insights on this.
