prolapseFrom: Laura (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Jul 2001 18:08:35 -0500 (CDT)
I recently noticed 2 bulges in my vagina, 1 at the top and 1 at the bottom. I also noticed upon further examination, that my cervix is only about 1 inch inside my vagina. I have trouble urinating and having bowel movements. My lower back hurts all the time and the area below my belly button feels like "pulled muscles." I also cannot get a tampon to go in very far or to stay in. After doing some research, I am wondering if this might be a uterine prolapse with a cystocele and rectocele. Am I correct to assume that the cervix should be higher up in my vagina? My other question is ... I am examining myself while sitting on the toilet. If a doctor were to examine me while I was lying down, it would not seem so bad. How is the severity of the condition determined; while the patient is lying down or while the patient is kneeling or standing?
