Significant hormonal changes, like puberty, menopause, OCP use, pregnancy and so on, will frequently lead to a shift in hair growth patterns, with relatively sudden loss of old hair, and simultaneous new growth. Because the old hair is long, the patient's preception is that her hair is falling out or thinning, but within a few months, the new hair is in and there is no long term difference. However, there are other causes of hair loss, and if you are concerned, you might want to see a Dermatologist.
