hpv warts

I have had hpv warts in the past. They usually came out singularly. One or maybe two at a time, but never as clusters, and always along the shaft of my penis. Recently, I have been inundated with several clusters of 6-7 warts along the head of my penis. Can this be the result of the same hpv I had which have not been a problem for 10+ years, or because of the difference in the type, could this be from a different source? I am concerned because I do not think this is the same type I had and that I may have acquired a different type. Could someone please explain the different types of HPV. How many type are there? What are some common/different features? What is the best type of treatment? I am finding Aldara to be very painful and not very helpful, at least not after 2 months of regular use. Are there other treatments I should try? Thank you for any responses.
