[Birth Control] Mirena coil and depression

I hope someone can advise me. I have a history of depression but have been well for 3 years until recently. The only change in my life was that I had the Mirena coil fitted in December 2000. I am 43 and in a stable relationship. Since February I have suffered symptoms similar to depression ; extreme fatigue. severe muscle and joint pain (like a bad flu), mood swings, foggy thinking to point of having to take time off work. This has intensified lately and my doctor, after checking thyroid etc, has put me on fluaxnol, which has helped enormously. I have no reason to be depressed and to be honest it feels more like really severe PMS which I have always suffered from. Is this a possible side-effect of the progestogen in the coil? I have come across references to this in other postings on other sites. Should I go back to my gynae doctor and ask for help? Thank you.
