Most women who have their uterus and ovaries removed should be started on estrogen in the recovery room. If a woman's uterus is gone she has no need for the progestin. Ortho-est contains both estrogen and a progestin (it is a birth control pill) With no uterus, estrogen alone is the only thing needed to prevent bone loss and hot flushes. It also prevents vaginal dryness. Package inserts list everything that a pill might do. The one for aspirin(if there were one) would be a lot worse than that one.
