RH Sensitization/Titer QFrom: mary (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 26 Jul 2001 09:43:43 -0500 (CDT)
In my last pregnancy I became sensitized to D, no Rhogam shot. On the morning of the day my daughter was born I had an amnio (no Rhogam), bloodtest with a titer of 1:8, then emergency Csection (noRhogam). The bloodtest is where they confirmed that I was sensitized. 7 months after delivery and 10 months after delivery I was retested and my titers were 1:256. Could the amnio and the csection have been the 2nd and 3rd exposure of fetal/maternal blood, and is that why my titers went up? I know that Rhogam would have been useless to give me at both of those times - just trying to figure out why the titers went up. (on the day of delivery my KB test was neg, coombs was pod, baby was born anemic, jaundice, needed an exchange transfusion and phot therapy, she was in the NICU for 10 days) thanks
