Provera to Control bleeding?

Sorry my browser said this didn't post, I applogoize if it appears twice.

browser said it didn't send, so here's a synopsis: Bleeding for 25 days now. Went to the ER, where they prescribed provera 10 mg/3 times day for 4 weeks. Said would stop bleeding, but it didn't just slowed it to a moderate bleed, instead of soaking a pad/30 minutes. I was on vacation, when I returned home I called my doctor to ask about he continued bleeding. He said to stoo the Provera, that I week should be enough to induce a medical D&C, but to call if I started hemoraging again. 24 hours after my last pill, I started flooding again. I Called the docs office(like the doctor told me to do); it took them 4 hours to call me back and the nurse told me to go to the ER because I was hemoraging. I already knew that. The ER is EXTREMELY expensive and not too helpful. My hematocrit was fine a week ago. I am now only soaking a pad every 1-2 hours as long as don't exert myself AT ALL. I had a normal TV ultrasound (thickened endometrium, no polyps or fibroids or cysts). My mother had uterine cancer when she was my age (25). My questions: What is the normal dosage of Provera to control bleeding? Does it usually stop the bleeding completely? Would an ultrasound be able to detect cancer? What other treatment options are available to me now? What could possibly cause bleeding like this? This bleeding started as post coital bleeding that never stopped. Does that matter?
