Provera to stop bleeding

I have been bleeding for 25 days now. 8 days ago it got so heavy I went to the ER (pad/20-30 minutes). My blood count was fine so they gave me Provera to take 10 mg/3 times/day and said to take it for 4 weeks. They said it would stop the bleeding. It didn't but it slowed it down to a moderate bleed instead of hemoraging. I was on vacation and got home yesterday. I called my doctor to ask about the continued bleeding even with the Provera. He told me to stop taking it, that 1 week should be enough to induce a medical D & C. I asked what to do if I started hemoraging again and he said to call back. 24 hours after taking my last Provera, I started bleeding heavily 1 pad every 30 minutes, slowing down to 1 pad every 1-2 hours when I lay down and don't exert myself AT ALL. I called the doctors office. It took them 3 HOURS to call me back and the NURSE told me to go to the ER because I was hemoraging. I already knew that. The ER is EXTREMELY expensive and I don't know that they'll be able to do much for me--They didn't last time. So my questions: What do I do now? What is the standard dosing of Provera to stop bleeding? Does it ususally stop the bleeding completely? My mother had uterine cancer when she was my age (25). Is that something that this kind of bleeding could indicate? Would they be able to see the cancer on a TV ultrasound? What else could cause bleeing like this and what are my other treatment options?
