endometrial measurement

Dear Drs: I have checked the archives and have not found a direct answer to the following question. In a pre or peri-menopausal woman, are there any guidelines (by phase) as to what the maximum normal endometrial measurement should be? I'm asking because on day 26 of my cycle my endometrium measured 10mm, which my gyn says is normal, but my General Practitioner keeps insisting to me that it is too thick. I am 38 yrs old and have heavy bleeding etc. Obviously, I believe my gyn but I'm wondering if any guidelines have been set lately. I thank you for your time.
