my obgyn wishes me to take 4 months of HRT to stablize irratic hormone levels (starting to experience mild hot flashes). He did not take a saliva or blood test to determine this problem. Just a normal exam and "his years of knowledge!". (he does have outstanding credentials although medical school was in the 1960's).He has prescribed Provera 10mg with Premarin 1.25 mg(which seems a high dose)for use in specific days. My rule is to take no medicines unless absolutely needed and never anything un-natural that have possiblities of dangerous effects. I am not comforable with these medications not only because they are from horses and possible cancer causers but because last year I started seeing a cardiologist for stress related heart issues which I continue to do now for life.(am not on heart medication). However, there is no history of female cancers including breast cancer in my family.Am mostly vegetarian and processed food free. Need to know what type of dr.to look for to get a second opinion. What can you tell me about alternative treatments and more "progressive" physicians? Can you recommend/refer in the Greesnboro, NC area?
