Re: I have mild dysplasia - what should he do?

I was diagnosed with a mild cervical dysplasia (CIN I) in April 1999. After the initial diagnosis, I went to have it confirmed with a colposcopy, which was later followed by cryosurgery. At the time, when I was researching my options, it seemed that most doctors recommended removing the dysplasia by either cryo, leep, or laser surgery. Recently I have read that some doctors wait it out as a CIN I can go away (I have no idea if this is true, but it's what I read). Personally, I am glad it's out of my body. My latest gyno told me that with cryo (or any other surgery) the HPV is likely removed from your body completely. Unfortunately this isn't true for men. At the time, my then-gyno told me there were no tests for HPV but this isn't really true and your partner can have a urologist exam his urethra to see if there is evidence of warts which can block the urethra and ultimately become very dangerous. I have no idea if you should abstain but my guess is that your gyno would tell you to do so... I hope this helps. Tiffany
