Abdominal lump?From: Kerry (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 28 Jun 2001 17:19:40 -0500 (CDT)
I have been suffering with lower right abdominal pain off and on for the last 6 months. This pain is worsened by sex or even a pelvic exam (it hurts for a day or two afterward and sometimes feels "crampy" or achy). It does not seem to follow a particular pattern, although the frequency seems to have gotten less after I had been on birth control pills for about 4 months. CT scan, bloodwork, etc all normal, although ultrasound showed ovaries to be large - on the edge of normal range. The pain is sometimes accompanied by bloating and extreme abdominal tenderness. (I can't bump up against something without gasping.) A little over a month ago, I noticed that a particular area just below my waist between my belly button and hip bone is VERY tender. I then discovered a small lump there, maybe the size of a walnut. I went to the Dr. and she didn't seem concerned by the lump - it was probably a swollen gland or something. My question is: the lump is still there over a month later and a I am still experiencing tenderness. Should I be concerned? Should I have it checked again, or is this nothing to be concerned about and not connected to my lower abdominal pain? Re: my abdominal pain, should I go see a GI doctor since my GYN can't seem to figure out what it could be? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
