I have heard after 40 as well from my FP. This is to check for enlarged prostate and GI bleeding which can be from many problems from ulcers to cancers. I have not found that many men comply with that recommendation. My 43 yo DH's docs have not done an exam on him yet. Not that he's complaining:-)
