anterior cervix and childbirthFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 26 Jun 2001 13:49:58 -0500 (CDT)
I went to a new gynecologist today and she had a hard time at first finding my cervix. She told me it was quite far anterior, and had to use three different speculums before she could successfully do the Pap. I was relieved when she told me because it explains why gyno visits have been such an ordeal in the past -- I always dread going, and leave feeling like I've been strip-mined. I asked her if the position of my cervix would present any difficulties if I want to have a baby someday, and she said absolutely not. Was she telling me this just to make me feel better? She was very, very compassionate and reassuring, and I don't think she wanted to cause me any undue stress because I was already so nervous about the exam. Also, could the position of my cervix be one reason tampons have never worked well for me? I never felt I could get them inserted far enough. Many thanks for any help,
-- Amy
