It has been my impression, at least in New York and Massachusetts, that as long as you have been continuously insured, your new insurance should cover any pre-existing conditions. Now that I think about it - my 23 year old son just became too old for our family policy and they sent us some kind of certificate to verify that he has in fact been continuously insured so that he could present it to his new employer (yes, Virginia, the kids really do grow up and become self- sufficient!!!)
