A question about ultrasoundsFrom: Kristy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 20 Jun 2001 13:41:30 -0700 (PDT)
Hi everyone, I have been following this discussion about transvaginal sonogram and I have a question about the difference in the way a sonogram is done. But before I ask isn't a transvaginal x-ray the same as a transvaginal sonogram? If it is here's my question. What is the difference between a transvaginal, transabdominal, and a pelvic sonogram? The reason I ask is b/c I've had all 3 of these back in 1997. When I had the transabdominal sonogram done twice I had to have my bladder full for the exam (the first time I had it done the exam didn't show the cysts I had in my ovaries). When I had the transvaginal sonogram I didn't have to have a full bladder and the tech just put the transdeucer at the edge of my vagina and it took the pic and the cysts showed up. I know that the pelvic ultrasound is like having a pelvic exam done (I've had this done twice also). I will also admit right now (and forgot to do so in the post to the other person that was explaining transvaginal x-ray) that if I'm wrong then I'm saying right now I'm sorry but I was just telling her what I knew from my own experience. Take care everyone, ===== Kristy :) http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html Owner: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Endo_Vulvodynia_PCOS http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Zoladexforendometriosis Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo!
