We regularly ask patients to fill out "customer satisfaction" forms and read every one of them. The physicians and staff discuss comments and requests. If a good idea comes up, or if a number of patients have the same idea, we take it very seriously. However, please allow a brief example of how this can sometimes be difficult. Not too long ago a patient called us very angry that she received a letter stating her Pap smear was slightly abnormal and that she should call our nurse for further information. She received the card on a Friday (it was mailed Monday), and worried about it the whole weekend. A newer nurse in our office took a verbal lashing from the lady, so the next time the nurse had a patient with an abnormal Pap, she called the patient's house 4 times over 3 days, did not get an answer, and finally left a message on her machine. That patient then called, outraged, because she did not want her Pap smear discussed on an answering machine. You can't win sometimes! But, in most cases we find requests from patients extremely helpful, and I would encourage you to pass these along to your doctor's office manager. Best wishes,
