stillbirth/possible medicine reactions?From: Dawn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 18 Jun 2001 22:03:38 -0500 (CDT)
I was 38 weeks pregnant and scheduled for a repeat c-section. I delivered my daughter stillborn two days before my c-section. Other than high blood pressure during my pregnancy, notmedically treated, my pregnancy went fine. My question is....I am allergic to penicillian, was prescribed the antibiotic cephalexin for an infection on my nose several days before her stillbirth. I have read articals on the internet that pregnant women and/or women who are allergic to pennicillian should be cautious in taking cephalexin. My doctor knew of the allergy I had and yet prescribed this for me. We had an autopsy done and other than her cord being extra long, which was not wrapped around her in any way, and the placenta being markedly decreased, they could not find a reason for her stillbirth. I am only curious as to what your opinion is on this matter and any information you might be able to supply would be helpful...Thanks
