Is nursing baby contagious?

I will ask our pediatrician, too, but until I talk to him I'd like other advice. My 11.5 month old has either strep or a viral throat infection (blisters all over the back of his throat, high fevers, not eating). A blood test showed some bacterial involvement, so he was put on amoxicillin right away. We are still waiting for the culture results. In the meantime, could he maybe pass this on to me through nursing? It has felt different in the past few days, like a burning or tight (hurting) pulling or something occasionaly while he sucks. Sorry, I'm just not very good at describing things like this, but hopefully you'll get the idea. Thanks so much for anyone's help!
