Dear Sirs:

I am a 27 year old female who has had 3 children. After our last child my husband and I decided that we did not want any more children and decided that due to my having to have a C-Section I should just get my tubes tied. This was 3 1/2 years ago. On March 20th, 2001, I awoke with severe pains on my left side of my stomach and was told that I had a tubal pregnancy and was sent to a hospital 50 miles away to have the preganacy removed and due to the fact my tube ruptured I was to have the tube also removed on the left side. Before I was released from the hospital we were told that the doctor who performed the surgery went back and re-cauterized (sp) everything and that we would never have to worry about this happening again. We asked if we needed birth control, the answer was it was not necessary since her went back and re did the tubal ligation. Approximately less that 3 onths later I awoke with the same pains, only on the right side and discovered again, that i had a tubal pregnancy. They decided to open me up and perform the surgery, similar to a C-Section. My husband and I are so nervous about having a normal intimate sex life and we were wondering if this was neglegance on the doctor's part?? We are VERY angry and upset due to all the pain and medical bills that we have built up over this time. The emotional agony alone is hard for me to handle. Please give me your honest opinion on whether this was doctor neglegence, or what we need to do to prevent this from the future.
