MRI, Urodynamic StudiesFrom: AMS (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 5 Jun 2001 17:15:41 -0500 (CDT)
After 10 months of DUB and only partial tx success, my gyn has now decided that I probably have adenomyosis and has ordered MRI (open, thank god - the one on my head 10 years ago had me hollering my lungs out before hubby gave me a touch of valium - so much for childirth breathing to control claustrophobia!) Will they be using contrast material for pelvic? Also, she asked about stress incontinence and since I tend to drizzle with cough, sneeze, laughter she has said she'll have her np do urodynamic studies - can anyone tell me whats involved with this. I'm sure its nothing elegant - will I have to be catheterized or just drink a lot before I arrive? Also have small rectocele with "really soft perineal body" I know where the perineum is - what is "body" part? So, since it looks like hysterectomy is coming down the road, will probably have a complete rehab - I'm about 50 pounds over ideal weight, 30 over the outside of acceptable, healthwise for my height. I assume these repairs have a better chance of success if I take the weight off before the surgery - what would be the optimum to shoot for? Finally, fundus is really hard with suspected big fibroid - will vaginal be possible? And if so, how do you make all those repairs without leaving scar tissued in the vagina? (My sex life is important to me - my uterus is not.) Thank you doctors for this forum - managed care and the productivity push leaves little time for any but the most urgent questions in the office.
